3 Nov. Calif.: Alameda Co., Berkeley A second rain fall of the fall season fell this afternoon but of an amount to do little more than wet the pavement. Cooke reports about same amount as this fall on east side of Berkeley Hills. No road examination made because of lightness of shower. 8 Nov. Beginning during the middle of the night and continuing throughout the day and evening a steady rain fell. This is the first heavy rain of the season. Shortly after dark, between 1815-1845, Taricha and Eusatina were observed to be abundantly present on the roads through Tilden Regional Park and on the Bean Creek Road near Orinda. These roads were used in getting out to Cooke's residence on Bean Creek. In company of Elsdore Cooke and Rich. Russell drove by way of Happy Valley Road to Lafayette, tence to Saranap and Alamo. Saw no Taricha (or other salamanders) after leaving Happy Valley. From Alamo drove Green Valley Road and Tassajara Road to U.S. Hwy 50 emerging at Santa Rita Prison Farm. From there to Livermore, then Back Road to Marsh Creek Road and back to Concord. With the exception of a couple of [illegible] no salamanders were seen. Using Reliez Valley and Alhambra Valley Roads, returned to Bean Creek Road and then home. Alhambra Valley Road and Bean Creek Road were still abundantly
