9 July Mexico: Durango: 6mi. WSW to Adajuntas, 8588 ft.
in openings of forest. A Phrynozoma be
found on forest floor. Rains fell in late
afternoon and no anphibian calls
heard during evening.
10 July My day as campguard. Hunting during morning
by other party members netted only a few
Scalopous and one R. pipiens. Poor hunting
due probably to low temperatures caused by
half-heated sun shining through high overcast.
Rains skipped mid afternoon and waited
until early evening and fell for the first time
during the night. Afternoon hunting produced
a large C. triseriata, 2 piquy muthatches,
one large flycatcher. In evening captured
Peromyscus in tent and later 2 more.
11 July Mexico: Durango & Sinaloa
Morning spent preparing specimens and breaking
camp. During afternoon drove west toward
Magatlan. Many places to camp near
streams, rocky ledges, meadows and similar
spots present beyond our camp at El Borango.
Road currently passes through La Cuidad before
reaching crest. Extremely heavy rains falling
at La Cuidad and just prior to the
town and rain we spent several minutes
collecting in an extensive meadow area and
its pine-forest edges. Hyla eximia abundant
