W. Reiner 1953 Journal 6 July Mexico: Durango. south toward Durango collecting on the road Bufo cognativus, Bufo punctatus, Scaphiopus and Thamnophis species at various scattered points. A Hypsigena and Tampreptis were also taken. The last 3/3's of the drive between Parral and Durango traverses topographically varied and very scenic country. 7 July Mexico: Durango: Durango to Las Adjuntas. This entire day consumed in driving a few remaining miles into Durango and hence westward toward Mazatlan. The highway is excellent hard-top to El Salto and traverses at this season extensive lush pine-oak forest. Forest reproduction is everywhere evident. Meadows are also extensively present and lush green. Cattle stock appear in good shape. All is in sharp contrast to beat-up appearance of land west of Parral. Collecting stop made at an arroyo about midway between Durango and El Salto where a Sceloporus and two Thamnophis species taken. Near Las Adjuntas the road was slippery and set from recent rains, many of the ridges were fog bound. By mid-afternoon we had reached a campsite about 6 airline miles
