W. Rieiner 1953 Journal 19 Apr. Calif: Mariposa Co. made at Feliciano Creek, 3 mi. NE Briceburg. Here Loyalia and Triturus taten. Final stop at 0.6 mi. NE Briceburg made to collect new species of Hydromantes. None found, Soil too dry. 22 Apr. Calif: Contra Costa Co. Visited both Triturus study areas. Pinelhurst 0900-0945, Lafayette 1000-1045 hrs. 27 Apr. Visited Pinelhurst Triturus study area from 1350-1430 hrs. 1 May Calif: Alameda to Eldorado Co. Left Berkeley at 0825 headed for Sierras east of Sacramento. Objective: To collect series of Triturus sierrae and especially gravid ff at points near Eldorado Co., Butte Co., Shasta Co., and Triturus granulosus near Butte, Shasta and Humboldt Co. and Triturus rivalis from near Humboldt Co. Drive to Sacramento took 2 hrs. First stop made at: Sacramento Co., Sacramento - Eldorado Co. line 6 mi. E Watsona. Here in open rolling grassland not far from grassland- oak- woodland ecotone (See photo -35 mm for this date), took 1 Thamnophis elegans atratus and 3 Sceloporus at base of road fill talus. This spot just 100 miles from Berkeley. Second stop at: Eldorado Co., Weber Creek, 3 mi. SW Placerville. Stop made here last
