22 Feb. Calif: San Benito Co.
areas and rotten logs abundant and soil
under same damp but very few animals
seen. Present were Sceloporus and Gerbontus
(see catalogue), Batrachoseps, Rana boylii
and Bufo. It is possible that Triturus are
present in Tres Pinos Creek in digger pine
delt. A suitable search was not made. Night
was spent in main campground of Pinnacles
Nat'l Monument. Immediately before entering
Monument and Anciedes and Anniella were
collected while gathering wood at dusk.
23 Feb. Calif: San Benito & Santa Clara Co.
Morning spent at north end of Monument
in area of high conglomerate cliffs and digger-
pine-ole woods. Uta, Ancides, Diadophis,
Rana boylii seen or collected. Again just
1 mi. outside Monument E entrance collected
on sandy river banks and in willow-ole
woods among seeps adjacent to stream.
Totle 4 Anniella, 1 Contia, 1 Eumeces gilberti,
1 Eusatina, 13 Ancides, Batrachoseps. Next
stop in lower part of Pacheco Creek in SE
corner of Santa Clara Co. Lower portion
to open land at higher elevations I would
expect Triturus. We did no collecting.
Finally two stops made near E southern end
of Coyote Rode near Gilroy. 16 Triturus,
