W. Rieger 1952 Journal 26 July Calif.; Marin Co, 1½ mi. E San Geronimo, San Geronimo Creek. 425 feet Trickles a underground seeps. Surrounding soil powder dry. This is same place S.F. Coole, Jr. collected small series of T. granulosus 2 weeks ago. Now only one present. This probably means a general exodus within these two weeks. Why? In pools exposed to considerable light annular larvae abundant. Triturus larvae also collected. See accounts of T. granulosus and R. boylii. 2 Aug. Calif.: Contra Costa Co, Visited both Triturus study areas. At Pinchurst 1130-1230 hrs. Collected series of larvae. At Lafayette Reservoir 1250-1350 hrs. No larvae could be found. 30 Aug Visited both Triturus study areas. At Lafayette 0800-0945. Collected series of adults. At Pinchurst 1015-1130. Collected series of larvae. 14 Sept. At Jewel Lake could find, but could not capture, single Triturus, presumably a granulosus. Area examined was pools below Jewel Lake Dam between 0730-0800 hrs. Water darkish colored but fairly clear. 4 Oct. Visited both Triturus study areas. At Pinchurst 1045-1140 hrs. Temperatures at 1120: air 19°C, water 13°C. Series of 10 larvae collected.
