W. Reine Journal 31 May Calif.' vicinity Lake Almanor, Plumas Co. Rana catesbeiana present. Bullfrogs also said to be abundant in Lake Almanor. In small roadside pool near Greenville collected batch of Ambystoma macrodactylum lawae. During afternoon proceeded E through Susanville and then S to region of Mc Kesich Peak where we drove over ridge to East Chance Creek - the headwaters of Feather River. Here in arid yellow pine- sage brush meadow in large deep stream collected Rana boylii boylii. Continued S to region of Carson City for night 1 June Using Butte and Echo Pass and U.S. 50 sampled streams on W. slope of Sierras for frogs and Eta Triturus. No Triturus though at low elevation - the only place frogs were taken I noted old jelly capsule. Adults apparently have left stream. Clemmys marmorata taken in same stream - Webber Creek. 26 July Calif: Marin Co, 1½ mi. E San Geromino, San Geromino Creek, 425 feet. Entire afternoon spent in small redwood grove just E of city limits of Woodacre. Stream now consists only of scattered pools, some of considerable size and connected to one another by surface
