W. Riemer 1952 Journal 12 Apr. Calif.: Santa Cruz Co., Waddell Creek, 3 1/4 mi. E. Elmo Nuevo Point, 25ft. for trespassing. Where road first approaches stream closely beyond house large numbers of torto T. torosus present as well as eggs. Further upstream animals still common but not so abundant. Same applies to eggs. In puddles near stream T. granulosus taken. None in stream however. Do granulosus breed later here or do they breed further upstream? Those taken did not appear to be in breeding condition. Oreides flavipunctatus taken (11) in Bessie Creek. Dicamptodon lavas also taken here. These taken by Ray and Zuerif. P. aurora in muddy pools above stream in vicinity of Stevens Camp. Near where Triturus abundant and at edge of meadow area under bank & dead tree Gordon took several Eceloporus, Thamnophis elegans, Cottia (I got away), Hyla, Gerrhonotus. Weather: cool to cold, overcast heavy and low. Coluber constrictor taken next to reservoir near house. 21 Apr. Calif.: Contra Costa Co., Pinchurst Visited only this Triturus study area. 0900 - 1015 hrs. Only two animals handled. Weather fair, sunny, clear, comfortable. Stream still with good flow, water only slightly murky.
