W. Reiner 1952 Journal 8 Mar. Oregon: Benton Co., 7 mi. N. Cowallis to me. Collection data: "Trie; 1025-1040. Weather: Overcast (strato-minibus [illegible] clouds) with a slight drizzle. Water surface temp. at 3 inches: 9.7°C. Locality: Arboretum Pond # in Peavy Arboretum, ca 7 miles N of Cowallis to the W of Highway 99W in Benton Co. Remarks: Taken along pond margins. Animals were 'resting' in debris or swimming along margin. No females seen." Above data from Pimentel and also following comments, "Arboretum Pond is about 3.2 acres in surface area and 25 feet in the deepest spot." Many of animals dead on arrival because of too dense packing. Others dead after several days. In catalogue they follow 8 Feb., 1952. Pimentel also claims granulosis from areas circled on facing page map are smaller than granulosis from other areas adjacent to the lakes. 8 Mar. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Visited both Triturus study areas. At Pinchurst 1400-1420 hrs. Lafayette 1440-1530 hrs, Weather: clear, bright, sunny, cool. Snow on Mt. Diablo. 14 Mar. M.V.Z.
