1 Mar, Calif.: Alameda Co. to Butte Co.
1015 hrs, party of Zweifel, Keith and Cynthia
Murray and myself left Berkeley in
Zweifels car. Objective: for Zweifel to
see specific localities near Chico and
collect P. boylii, for myself to collect
Triturus. Arrived in Chico at about 1445(?hrs.
One stop made at mine site where ponds
present in mine debris. P. boylii captured
here, Hyla eggs present both well developed
and apparently newly laid. This locality
in H. regilla account. Terrain between
Chico and De Sable, Magalia, Paradise,
etc., appears to be a plateau (of volcanic
origin?) with abundant vertical cliff
faces. Streams apparently then have
dissected it into many parallel flat-topped
ridges. Many places with much water
seepage over rocks. Hydromantes present?
