W. Rieuer 1952 Journal 7 Feb. Oregon: Douglas Co., to Calif.: Del Norte Co., appear to yield little or nothing, Triturus appear to select deep, permanent pools. 8 Feb. Calif.: Del Norte Co. to Alameda Co. Returned home by 2300 hrs, stopping to collect at a few places in north coast counties only. 13 Feb. Calif.: Santa Clara and San Mateo cos, With Zweifel, Rosenthal drove in Zweifel's car to Stanford to see Savage. In mid-morning collected near Soarsville take for a few minutes capturing Diadophis and Triturus torosus. With company of Savage and Cliff in afternoon collected on Woodside - La Honda road just NE of State Hwy 5, and also in San Mateo Co. Memorial Park. In both places T. torosus, Aneides flavipunctatus, A. lugubris and Ensatina were taken. On returning home Zweifel and S collected Batrachoseps and T. granulosus and juvenile Thamnophis s. atratus on State Hwy 5 at pools opposite Sharp Park. Objectives: To collect granulosus from Santa Cruz Mts for me and lugubris for Rosenthal. 23 Feb. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Visited both Triturus study areas in morning to determine stage of activity. See T. torosus for results. At Lafayette 0945 - 1100 hrs and Pinchurst 1115 - 1145 hrs. Weather completely overcast with light drizzle at Lafayette.
