W. Reiner 1951 Journal 20 Oct. Calif: Napa Co. lugubris, 3 Ancides flaripunctatus, and several Batrachoseps. Then we drove to a spot which allegedly had many Triturus in some ponds just one week ago. This information from Dr. Camp and Mrs. Mary Major. A good road leads from the highway just below the Lake-Napa line to the home of Robert Rivermore - "Monterol"- Located 3½ mi. E, ½ mi. S Mt. St. Helena. Here the party collected in several artificial pools 29 Triturus granulosus and 1 Rana boylii. In the vicinity Zureifel picked up 1 Sceloporus occidentalis. He claims he saw some S. gracilis also. On a dirt road, impressed in the dried mud were a series of tracks which all agreed were those of a bear. I was unaware that bears occurred in the coast ranges. The apple orchards and grape arbors of the Rivermore place would no doubt please the bear. The general region is one of young dense conifer forest with little understory. We returned to the highway at which place the road crosses a small stream. Here one Rana boylii secured, locality:
