Trip over week end. Present were myself,
Keith Murray, Cynthia Wood, Robt. Stuart.
Objective: to determine developmental
stage at which Triturus species are at at
this time of year. Also to see north
coast. Left Berkeley 0800 hrs. 1st stop
near Shaggas Springs at 1100 hrs. From
1100 - 1430 hrs, all collected. Taken in
main stream were Triturus granulosus
adults, T. rivularis larvae and post-
larval young, Rana boylii larvae, meta-
morphosing young, post-larval young, and
adults, Clemmys marmorata, Thamnophis
elegans and pirtalis. All associated with
floating algal mats except adult granulosus.
In small tributary rivulet subadult
granulosus, larval and post-larval
Dicamptodon ensatus collected as well
as Rana boylii. Also seen but not
collected were Sceloporus young, Cremidophorus
Gerrhonotus coeruleus DOR, and small
Hemipneustis gatulus DOR.
