28 Apr. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Visited both Triturus study areas. At Lafayette 0930-1100 hrs. At Pinchurst 1115-1130 hrs. Heavy rain during previous night. Soil wet. Stream swollen. This is first rain since early in year (about 3 months).
5 May Visited both Triturus study areas. At Lafayette 0945-1045 hrs. At Pinchurst 1115-1200. Light rains during past weeks. Soil wet,
6 May Calif.: Marin Co. Briefly examined dam face and vicinity at both Phoenix Lake near Ross and Alpine Lake. Water of both reservoirs murky and impossible to see to depth of more than 6 inches. No Triturus. Both reservoirs easily accessible and both with roads parallelling shore. Dam at Phoenix Lake of rock and therefore unsuitable for capturing Triturus. Alpine Lake Dam vertical. Shore line very steep near dam.
