4 Mar. Calif.: Napa and Sonoma cos. Eunicea
shil ton ian us under rocks at edged
road. Not raining for short period
while at this locality but apparently
most of rest of day. (See T. circularis
for more detailed account of this locality).
Drove on toward Stewart's Point on coast
in expectation of collecting also at Cazadero.
Only a couple of miles from the coast road
blocked by fallen tree so returned home
via Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Petaluma and
Vallejo. Road west of Shaggs Springs not
difficult except where rains have caused
slides. Near summit (1900 ft.) blanket
of snow over much of ground, perhaps
4-6 inches. Douglas fir and redwood
timber at top, lower slopes with
oak and grass; much grazed by sheep.
Considerable lumbering activity. Many
cascading tributary streams. All main
streams muddy. On road paralleling
Dry Ar. between Shaggs Springs and
Healdsburg picked up one DORIgraulosus.
Flat floodplain terrain, orchards. Is
region near Shaggs Springs to mountainous?
Buffalo beans also along this road. Common
in numbers but all appeared but half grown.
Present in party were myself, D. Zweifel, K. Murray.
