18 Nov. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Visited both
Triturus study areas today. 0945-1045
hrs at Lafayette Reservoir. 0945 hrs, air
and water 16.0° C. Heavy rain during
entire week past. Rain during visit.
1 Batrachoseps and 1 very small Eusatia
(first ever seen in area) noted but no
Triturus under test board nor under any
other cover. Two adult ♂♂ short distance
from shore. In partial breeding
condition. Because of rain could not see
if adults still in water. 1200-1245
at Pinelurst. Temperature at station
at 1315 hrs. 60°F. 6.3 in. of rain
since last week. Heavy rain falling.
Stream at flood stage. Rapid and muddy.
Current to strong to stand up against
and more than hip boot deep in shallow-
est part of area. No Triturus.
19 Nov. Calif.: Solano Co., Vallejo. On report
of Robert Rudd & M.V.Z. that last weekend
Triturus and Rana aurora abundant
below dam of Cache Chabot a visit made
there today. Because of heavy rains every-
thing mushy. Three Triturus torosus
taken under debris, several Batrachoseps,
Befo boreas (about one cm.), Hylya, two Than-
nophis elegans aquaticus, one Gerlonotus multi-
carinatus.
