4 Nov. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Pinehurst. Visited only
this Triturus study area today. 1515-1715
hours. 1545 hrs. air 18.0°C, water 13.5°C.
Stream still running slowly, clear.
11 Triturus captured and marked, all new
captures. #107 #117. Most of these concentrated
about two sections of rotten log at
edged stream. Several others on steep
bank of stream either hiding under or
just emerged from under leaves and other
debriis. Weather overcast, soil wet.
11 Nov. Calif.: Contra Costa Co., Lafayette Reservoir. Visited
only this Triturus study area today. 1500-
1615 hours. 1500 hrs. air and water 18.5°C.
A few adult Triturus noted in water along
face of dam. Tail fins were not evident,
dorsal color dark. Under test board at shore
of lake no metamorphosed Triturus although
one noted under dead cattails in vicinity.
4 young Triturus captured and marked in
area, #33-#36. Two Gernonotus multi-
carinatus taken under boards also. Weather
clear, cool.

No Triturus in stream (Hagunitas Creek?)
though several deep pools examined. Soil
wet, water clear with slow flow. Is
it too cold or too early in season?
