Rain had stopped for the day with 0.41 in. in Pinchurst rain gauge. Road covered between 2245-10145 hours. Walking with lanterns from Pinchurst to Canyon and return. Rich. Zweifel and myself reach covering half of roadway, apparently no animals except possibly Batrachoseps overlooked. Following is total count. Triturus torosus 89 Eusatiria zochscholtzii 34 (one a very tiny juv.) Oreides lugubris 11 Batrachoseps attenuatus 19 Hyla regilla 2 Rana aurora 1 Five of Triturus captured for stomach contents and gonad development. 28 Oct.
