1 Jun. Calif.: Contra Costa Co., with gravel bottom.
No adults. At Lafayette Reservoir 1230 -
1300, 1300 hrs, water 23.0°C; air 19.8°C.
Larvae noted near shore of cove but only
where water clear, quiet, mud bottom,
clean edge. Nearby where ½-1 in. waves
had piled up cattail stalks and other
debri no larvae seen even though water
very still behind this barrier. Larvae
23, 30, 35 mm. Few adults on concrete
apron of dam. Are they leaving water only
now, and if so where do they go? The
soil except the immediate edge of the
lake is parched. Last of wild grasses on
hills thoroughly dry. Did not inspect
boards in either area since believed to
be too dry.
