Journal W. Reiner 1950 21 May Calif.: Sonoma Co. find a spot suitable for a permanent study area for T. granulosis in the north bay counties. In the vicinity of the Sonoma State Home just S of Glen Ellen are four ponds of considerable size. The two southernmost lie on private estates owned by one man apparently. Both with large numbers of P. catesbriana and therefore quite likely not suitable for Triturus. Two T. granulosis however taken in pool of almost dry stream near southermost lake. The two northern lakes on State property. Did not see one W of State Home but lake N & Home with very steep sides, no border vegetation and probably not good for Triturus. Also inspected pool about 2 mi. W Kenwood. This pool on property of Anna del Farms with hedges of State Hwy Address: Route 5, Box 464, Santa Rosa. Mr. Hillman 12 almost due N & lake. Lake shallow and with dense reed growth over most of surface. No P. catesbriana evident but no Triturus seen. The reluctance to admit people to that property more or less precludes study here. Quite likely not suitable for Triturus. Also inspected Santa Rosa Reservoir a 1 or 2 mile distance E of Santa Rosa. Caretaker very willing
