W. Reimer 1950 Journal 17 May Calif.: Contra Costa Co. During afternoon visited both study areas to determine at what stage of development Triturus populations were. This is first visit since middle of February. At Lafayette Reservoir between 1400-1445 hrs. No Triturus present under boards (too dry except under those near water's edge) and none seen in water. Tow bugs very abundant under boards. Small pool, isolated from lake where so much breeding activity noted in February, now dry. Marked one new Hyla. At Pinchurst 1515-1730 hrs. Stream now consists of quiet pools joined by short areas of rapid flow. Most of deep pools present last year now filled in and only three deep pools remain. These pools at 103.2-2.2, 103.0-5.4, 104.9-5.3. Adult Triturus (3) found only about the first pool listed. Here also were the only egg clusters seen. 15 counted in quick search. Two or more catfish (?) (18" lab) seen in last pool listed. Under boards found 2 Ensotria, one very young, one subadult. About 20 Batrachoseps counted. Two Triturus, one young, one subadult taken under boards. 21 May Calif.: Sonoma Co. Day spent inspecting several ponds in this county. Objective to
