W. Rieiner 1950 Journal 20 Apr. Mexico: Chiapas: 28 mi. ESE Comitan, 4900 ft., San Jose calling and saw one small toadpole but was not successful in capturing zitter. No bats nor amphibians in caves except as noted. One of natives from Tuxla Blanca found a Biffo in the stream bed near camp. 21 Apr. Broke camp and drove to vicinity of Tuxla Gutierrez to camp for night. Stopped in Comitan to buy salananas. 22 Apr. Visited with Alvarez de Toro at Tuxla Gutierrez Museo and after shopping in town drove on to spot about 50 mi. S Oaxaca to camp for night. 23 Apr. In morning on way to Oayaca picked up a snake on highway. Visited short time with aftosa (hoof and mouth disease) people in Oayaca and then drove on to camp a short distance from Isttan in mountains NE of Oayaca. Short distance from Oaxaca picked up large Sceloporus along road to Isttan. 24 Apr. Mexico: Oaxaca: 25 mi. NE Oaxaca, 6200 ft., Isttan Camp guard and cook. Put up two of Koford's blinds and late in evening captured a Sceloporus hiding between a beam and the well. Heavy but short rain at dusk. Road into this place well traveled by buses and trucks. It is very steep in spots and is not possible when wet.
