large plants (3 ft. in dia.) and about a half-
dozzen smaller plants. Found no vertebrates.

14 apr. Camp guard and coole today. Put up skins
all day. Saw a Eunicea in semi-shade in
grass in camp during mid-day hour but
could not catch. Found freshwater crab under
rock in dry pool in stream. No catch in
traps this morning though one trap sprung
and dragged a short distance.
15 apr. At dawn Koford and I walked to jungle area
beyond Montebello. Arrived about 0900. Hunted
until shortly before 1300 in jungle growth and
then returned to camp to put up skins. In
jungle I took a solitaire, a toucan and
a sparrow feeding on branches of tree (Arenocopa)
On return to camp took two Sceloporus of
two species and two Anolis in mixed semi-
open woods. Also took two cactus wrens,
No catch in trap line by stream bed.
16 apr. Spent day in camp shriming birds. Pitelka brought
in a green coluber for me. Koford and I set out
new trap line in dry stream bed a short distance
downstream from camp. A native informs
us that a terrapin lives in one of the nearby lakes.
