habitat of the two species of Eceloporus, of Bothrops,
Pitophis and Bolitoglossa. That was done. Also
I went to top of ridge to W of cut-over area
the ridge where Pitelka has been watching jays.
On way up I took a red-faced warbler, an
acorn woodpecker and on top a hummingbird.
The top of this ridge is densely covered with
vegetation but not of the high pine sort on the
opposite more open ridge. Here bromeliads
are very abundant, low on trees as well
as in the upper branches and broad leaves
predominate. On returning to camp took one
Eceloporus on rocks on steep slope leading
to ridge. C. Hoford later in day brought in
one of each of the two species of Eceloporus
from this area as well as a salamander.
Afternoon spent pulling up skins. In evening
shot peewee near camp. This is the last
of ten days at this camp. During that time
took three species of snakes, four species of lizards,
one species of salamander and two species of
anurans.
