28 Mar. Mexico: Chiapao: 6 mi. S.E San Cristobal, 7300 ft.
both still present. Eye shine of both excellent.
Many bats present also at spring. Since
arriving here clouds have moved from
S to N. This afternoon moved from N to
S. Light showers of big drops & rain
in early evening. Temp. in morning
seems to be low, rising rapidly with
sun to high & about 30 at midday and
slowly falling in afternoon when breeze
comes up, and rapidly when sun descends,
29 Mar. Spent morning S.W of camp on adjacent ridge
where Koford and Pitekka had good hunting on
the two previous days. Took 3 Aphilocoma
unicolor a solitaire and robin. Also 3 mre
Bolitoglossa salamanders in rotten log and under
bark. In this canyon and on ridge timber
denser and taller and whole appears more
moist, probably due to almost continuous fog
rolling over ridge. Vegetation & more tropical
character. Afternoon in camp. This morning
just prior to dawn light showers came and
occasion ones throughout day. None enough to
more than dampen things. Toward evening
and after dark gusty wind blowing. Day
almost completely and heavily overcast,
30 Mar. Spent three hours of morning pulling apart bromeliada
on ridge to S.E of camp. Many invertebrates present
