19 Mar. Mexico; Durango: streams where cottonwoods
a vivid green. Range land and cultivated
areas appear everywhere well tended and
intelligently managed.
20 Mar. Mexico: Aguascalientes: left our camp west of
Durango after taking several scrub jays
and a woodpecker and noting a large
number of other species. On trip down to
Durango stopped few moments at bottom of
Rio Chico to look in large stream pool for
Dinobystoma larvae in hopes one not taken
at El Salto camp could be replaced. No luck!
From Durango drove through Fresnillo, Pacatecos
to point north of town of Aguascalientes where
camp set up for night. Points along the way:
Nombre de Dios a small town with detour
through old cobblestone streets. Appears to be
first really unpolluted town. How long will
such a condition last? Pacatecos a truly
beautiful town with many new improved
features being installed. Camped 10 mi, N
Aguascalientes and took two Canna epians
21 Mar. Mexico: Queretaro: Drove to Drapeato and
spent most of afternoon visiting with Mr.
Chester Lander and family. Very hospitable.
Continued on in late afternoon to camp for
night just outside of town of Queretaro.
