18 Dec Calif.: Marin Co. granulosus. Weather: alternately rainy and bright and clear or occasionally overcast. Has rained for several days in bay area heavily. Arriving in Marin at San Quentin Point by ferry, drove W to Greenbrae. Triturus torosus DOR's common on roadway behind prison grounds. Then on to Ross, San Anselmo, San Geronimo. At San Geronimo turned N and then E on Lucas Valley Rd. just S S] Nicasio. At Loma Alta School took Triturus torosus and Oreides lugubris. Short distance further near Marin Hospital and farm took I. granulosus, A. lugubris, Ensatina eschscholtzii, Batrachomy attenuatus, Bufo boreas and Gerrhonotus multicarinatus. At U.S. Hwy 101 turned N to Novato and then W to Point Reyes Station. Along this road also took I. granulosus and Ensatina. Batrachoseps abundant. At Olema turned E and returned to ferry through Lagunitas and San Rafael. Noted likely looking stream for hunting Triturus in Taylor State Parks. Back at road behind prison collected T. torosus on road where animals seen in morning.
