27 Nov. Calif.: Santa Clara Co. although soil
under large pieces still dry. Single
Triturus taken, three Oecides flavipunctatus several Batrachoseps. In late
afternoon spent about one hour
searching along Los Gatos Creek just
above that town. A single Triturus
taken. Again soil not sufficiently
wet under larger pieces of cover.
Do more rain necessary to bring
animals out? Weather clear and
sunny. Both localities principally
oak woodland with sycamores and
alders and willows along stream
courses. A few Sequoia near
Saratoga. All Batrachoseps given
to Hendrichson.
3 Dec. Calif.: Contra Costa Co. Covered both study
areas today. Old Lafayette Reservoir 0900-
1000. Under Board A one animal
found and marked in 0014 series.
Toe pattern resulting as 0-0-14293-4.
Has not rained during week. New grass
well started. Several young Triturus
taken well up on slopes. Laid out
additional litter. No Triturus found
at Pinehurst. 24 Batrachoseps, 4 Eusotia
noted. Leaf blanket on ground thicker than last
week.
