At Lafayette Reservoir study area examined and marked all animals present. 227 Triturus handled. 208 of these newly marked. 3 Hyla (#5-7) newly marked. #1, 3, 4, (Hyla) recaptured. 9 Nov. Heavy rains during the past two days prompted a survey of the road adjacent to the study area at Pinchurst at night. Light intermittent rain at time of survey, 2030-2230 hours. 22 DOR Triturus counted, 4 hOR Triturus marked. Two each of Oreides and Eustatia counted as hOR on road. 19 Nov. Spent most of morning in Pinchurst study area searching for Triturus. Stream is again flowing as result of recent rains. 26 Nov. Again morning spent at Pinchurst. More salamanders evident than last week. 27 Nov. Calif.: Santa Clara Co. Drove directly to Saratoga on State Highways 17 and 9 from Berkeley. Spent several hours of early afternoon looking for Triturus along Campbell Creek just upstream from town. Much rotten wood about, especially on grounds of water company land. Moisture appears to be sufficient
