W. Reiner 1949 Journal 24 Sept. Calif. Contra Costa Co., Lafayette Reservoir I spent entire afternoon in vicinity of dam. Here marked 61 newly metamorphosed Triturus and released them at same spot. Group of 53 collected for preservation. Weather warm and comfortable. Species also seen include Rana aurora, Hyyla regilla. Both common. 1 Oct. Between 10-1200 hours marked 162 newly metamorphosed Triturus larvae young. A new group of Triturus present this week in same spot young marked last week. Weather clear and warm. Only trace of rain here during week past. Also noted in area Thamnophis elegans, R. aurora, H. regilla 10 ct. Calif., Contra Costa Co., Pinchurst Only brief examination of stream level made. Did not rain at all during week. No water remains in upper area except at 1.2-3.5 and 2.2-6.1 to 2.6-5.6. No larvae seen at all. Pool still present where drains empty near road junction and larvae still abundant.
