W. Riemer 1949 Journal 25 Aug. Colorado, Mesa Co., Grand Junction to Montezuma Co., nr. Cortez. In morning got mail and headed S. 14.6 mi. WNW & Delta stopped to collect in rocky area of desert- like situation. Took S. undulatus, Uta stansburiana, C. tesselatus, C. collaris. Some C. collaris here extremely greenish. Drove on to Montrose where changed to U.S. Hwy 550 and continued S. to Durango. In mountains near Silverton spent few moments checking logs for salamanders. None found and none expected. All of the Colorado Rockies appears to be too dry and rocky, i.e. little or no surface moisture in soil and very little leaf litter. Further there appears no heavily forested Transition but a change from spruce to sage- brush. From Durango drove after dark to point S & Cortez on U.S. Hwy 666 via U.S. Hwy 160. Camped for night. 26 Aug. Montezuma, Arizona, Colorado, Mesa Co., nr. Cortez to Mohave Co., nr. Peach Springs. Worked on notes until 1100 hours. Then drove the following route to point where camped for night at 2300 C.S.T. U.S. 666 to Gallup, U.S. 66 to Peach Springs. Stopped in
