11 Aug. New Mexico, De Baca Co, Fort Sumner to Socorro Co;
Socorro Bob collecting for about one
hour took 4 C. grahamii, a new species
for the trip and saw U. stansburiana.
22.3 mi. ESE Vaughan, in De Baca Co,
noted Piturophio DOR. Short yucca in
short-grass prairie. Passed through Mountain-
air at 1700 hours. Juniper-pine-grass
association very much like that between
Holbrook and Showlow in Arizona.
WSW Scholle in the Mangano Mts spent
about 20-30 minutes rolling rocks
but saw only S. undulatus about junipers.
Raining lightly. 8.1 mi. E Bernardo
noted DOR Terrapene and 6.4 mi. E
same town picked up LOR Terrapene at
1830. Weather overcast. Short-grass, yucca,
and along road Russian thistle. At
Bernardo turned S to Socorro. Again
c. Lowe not there so returned N Stown
to camp for night.
12 Aug. New Mexico, Socorro Co, Socorro to Bernalillo Co.,
Albuquerque Drove directly to Albuquerque
and stayed for evening with Lt. and Mrs.
Jack (and Esther) McKinnon, Jack a cousin
of Bob's. No collecting done this day.
