W. Reimer 1949 Journal 10 Aug. New Mexico, Lea Co., Hobbs to DeBaca Co., Ft Summer: apparently was the attraction in the immediate vicinity. The "horns" of this animal seem to be sharper than those of blainvillii to the touch. Leaving Clovis in late afternoon with overcast weather began to notice Terrapene mostly DOR, quite commonly. These occurred from W. outskirts of Clovis to Melrose. One h OR taken. In very late afternoon picked up one each of S. hammondii (small) and B. insidior (small) in vicinity of Red Lake just E of the hande. Returning to spot after dark picked up series of 17 hammondii on road and shoulder and one adult S. boulifrons in field (short-grass prairie) next to road. S. hammondii appeared much more abundant on road than in adjacent field. Had rained recently. This locality 1 mi. E of the hande bid in other notes listed as 9 mi. E Ft. Summer. Camped for night at edge of river at Ft. Summer. 11 Aug. New Mexico, DeBaca Co., Ft. Summer to Socorro Co., Socorro Morning spent on notes and animals taken yesterday. Before leaving!
