W. Rainer 1949 Journal 3 Aug. New Mexico, Doña Ana Co., has Cruces to Otero Co., Alamogordo. Teyana. Weather cloudy and cool. Proceeded then to Alamogordo for night. During night rained intermittently but enough to thoroughly wet soil. 4 Aug. New Mexico, Otero Co., Cloudcroft. Because of heavy overcast drove on State 83 to Cloudcroft near summit of Sacramento Mts, 8600 ft±. Between 1000 - 1200 hours spend time about 1 mile below Cloudcroft look for Plettodon hardii. I found none though I looked under intact bark of fallen logs, fallen bark, rotten logs in and under, under rocks and in leaf-wood litter. Many of such situations appeared ideal. Bob took 3 in cleavage planes of bark and one in rock rubble of old mossy road cut. Raining steadily during these hours, often hard. In early afternoon above town looked in rock rubble of exposed hillside and I took two Bob none. Phrynosoma douglassii I took at first collection spot. Apparently had been driven out by rain. Returned in afternoon to White Sands Nat'l Monument camping in picnic area for night.
