W.Rieman 1949 Journal 29 July Arizona, Navajo Co., NE Lakeside to Apache Co., S. Springerville. Wrote notes until 1045 when we left camp. Collected about pools in vicinity Lake O'the Woods Lodge, 0.8 mi. NNW Lakeside. Collected and looked for Hyla wrightorum specifically until about 1230 hours. Found not sign of Hyla but discovered R. pipiens very abundant. Thamnophis present and larvae of B. woodhousii (?) and two adult Pseudacris taken. Situation appeared ideal for Hyla and Wright claims to have taken Hyla larvae at this spot. Returned toward Holbrook in early afternoon. Stopped 5 mi. S of town to check muddy pools in bottom of unusual sand stone (?) formation ravine. In red muddy water R. Stelbrins got some Scaphiopus hammondii larvae and I shot C. gularis above on rocks. Habitat shot of area taken in color. Ernest Stelbrins then dropped off in Holbrook for return trip home. In late afternoon Bob and I, the remaining party members, returned over same route to Pinatop, another Hyla locality. Found more in pond at NW edge of town but did take only small B. woodhousii, T. elegans, and A. tigrinum larvae. Water temp of pool in 2 in. depth, 28.2° C.
