W. Rieger 1949 Journal 25 July Arizona, Graham Co., vicinity Calva to Gila Co., Rose Creek Canyon appeared excellent but search short, weather overcast, and no specimens Taken. Put up in Rose Creek Forest Service Public Campground for night. It is situated N.S. Roosevelt Lake on road to Young. In late afternoon collected nice series of B. tarahumarae larvae one of the objectives but failed to find any adults the other objective. During evening walk up road to check on any possible amphibian choruses took series of young B. compactilis young and one adult. Heard no choruses. Why have we not yet heard B. compactilis sound off? This appears to be very pleasant spot to camp. No insects to speak of at night, considerable stands of mixed conifer and broad leaf trees, few people. 26 July Arizona, Gila Co., Rose Creek to Maricopa Co., N.W. Phoenix One hour during morning 1000-1100 spent looking for B. tarahumarae adults in tributary of Creek about half mile below Hodge and campground. Many tadpoles in various stages of growth present but no adults seen. Many spots appeared ideal. Stream small rocky broken into numerous pools between series
