W. Reiner 1949 Journal 23 July Arizona, Cochise Co., Fort Huachuca to 10.5 mi. NNE Douglas. Left the Fort after noon after devoting morning to note writing. Merritt suggested that anyone, anytime visiting in that area stop to see him at Fort. Drove over State Hwy 92 and U.S. 80 to Douglas by nightfall. Much storming and heavy rains over entire route. After dark drove NE-ward on U.S. 80 hoping to pick up specimens out because of rain. 2 mi. old town stopped to pick up a S. hammoudii on road and heard loud chorus of B. cognatus and a new unfamiliar trilling. In grass at edge of the roadside puddle found first B. insider. Collected two. Took few notes of on insider call but gave up because of loud interference interference from cognatus. See R. Stellbris notes. Then proceeded to 10.5 mi. WNE town where camped for evening. At that locality heard another loud chorus with new unfamiliar call. Search showed it to be Scaphiopus couchii making a nasal baaing or crying sound. S. hammoudii also present and calling. Why were not Scaphiopus present in the other pool and
