21 July Arizona, Pima Co., Hdqtrs Santa Rita Experimental Range
large numbers of Scaphiopus hammondii
larvae plus larvae of Bufo compactilis (?)
On inquiry about other water in
and about Fry learned that another
pond on grounds of Fort Huachuca.
After inquiring at gate and request
being announced to post commandant (?)
(post under authority War Assets Administration) he insisted we visit him.
Late in evening Ralph P. Merritt,
in charge directed us to pool in
hdqtrs area. Took huge B. woodhousii
and several large B. pipiens plus
moles of pipiens chowing. Stayed
at General Pershings "home" on post
that night.
22 July Arizona, Cochise Co., Fort Huachuca Mto, Carr
Canyon In morning drove up Carr
Canyon some twelve miles below
Fort area. Entrance made from State
Hwy 92. Road steep and rocky but
inspite of apparently heavy rains
previous day or night easily passable
to end. Beginning about 1300 hours started
up trail from end of road toward
Miller Peak. Turned rocks and
