17 July Arizona, Santa Cruz Co., Peña Blanca Springs
On way to tank (a simple concrete
dam across stream-bed drainage
area) took C. mollosus on road.
Considerable lightning close by and
as soon as left tank cloud burst
developed. Heavy rains during night.
18 July Arizona, Santa Cruz Co., Sycamore Canyon.
Spent hour before breakfast in P.B. Spgs.
camp looking for Bipes. R. Stellbins
and myself looked under rocks on
hillsides and floor of canyon, under
logs, leaf litter etc. None found
nor any other reptile. Back in
camp area I took Eunicea callicephalus. Floyd had taken one
in Heachucas some years ago (1933 (?))
and Taylor had described animal in
1929 as new to U.S. Locality at
present unknown to me where Taylor
got specimen. Is this find a range
extension? After breakfast drove to
Sycamore Canyon with objective of
collecting Rana torahumanae. Small
puddles and pond present which
look relatively permanent below Vyanke
Spring where car parked. Just below
Spring area massive much fractured
