10 July Vicinity Yuma, Yuma Co., Arizona During
morning looked for and took several
Uma motota in sand dunes W &
Winterhaven in Imperial Co., on
Calif. side of river. Most were extremely
way running long distances to shelter
& brush or tree before stopping. Tracks
& Chionactis (?) [illegible] not
uncommon. Followed one of two
sidewinder tracks seen. Took rambling
route to, and disappeared into a hole
in ground. Afternoon spent writing
notes and bathing in canal in town.
11 July Spent all of daylight hours shopping,
getting truck fixed, and completing various
chores. In evening rode out Calif. side
of River on road to Laguna and
Imperial Dam. Picked up Lampropeltis
getulus yummensis just before
dark. Just after dark got small
series Rana pipiens beyond Imperial
Dam. Just below Dam got 1 Colony
on road. Saw nothing rest of evening
though temperature and other conditions
seemed ideal. Moon did not arise
until late. Just before sunset had
Bob take picture of me in my
new moustache and haircut.
