18 May Pucihurst, Contra Costa Co., Calif.
Of Triturus, more marked, more
of hor's within yards. All live animals
juveniles (45-56 mm, s-v length) except
1 subadult (60 mm. s-v). Of DOR's
5 juveniles, 1 subadult (65 mm s-v),
2 adults of undetermined sex. Where
direction of travel of animal certain
recorded as follows: 1 juvenile moving
toward stream, 3 juveniles and 1 adult
moving away from stream. Others
not determined or seemingly neither
toward nor away from stream.
Oreides and Eusatina seen only well
after dark. Not enough animals (Triturus)
seen to indicate concentration
at any one point or twice night.
Appears main activity at this season
on part of juveniles, also tendency
to move away from water. Area
of road surveyed from upper end upper
area to lower end lower area.
21 May 1230 - 1515 spent in area. Weather
warm and clear. Temp. at 1450:
air 16.8, water 12.8. Water level
up slightly due to rains during
week (guage shows only 0.25 inches)
