W. Reimer 1949 Journal 29Apr-1May San Luis Obispo Co, Calif. search made appear scarce. 1 juvenile seen. Beaver workings, Anthony Green Heron seen. ② Small series B. boreas juveniles taken. Large concentrations B. boreas larvae feeding on Spirogyra. All, died quickly enroute home. No Thamnophis. ③ Hyla & Batrachoseps taken but lost enroute home. Sceloporus and Eumeces shiltonianus seen. Beaver workings, Yellow-billed Magpie noted. No Thamnophis Returned Berkeley 210001 May 7 May Pinehurst, Contra Costa Co., Calif. 1400-1600 spent in area. Weather, clear, sunny, warm. Stream level down. Temperature 1545, air 19°C, water 14°C. 5 animals taken, 287, 3 juveniles. 2 of juveniles new. Egg clusters well developed. All observed, at very elongate stage. No close checks made but apparently some clusters have disappeared. One cluster at surface of water. 15 May 1310-1620 spent in area. Weather, as during much of past week, heavily overcast. Had been some rain recently probably preceding night. Temperatures; at 1545: air 12, water 11.4°C. Stream
