Most I time spent mapping. Sheet 2 all complete except for trees. More of lower area mapped. 14 Mar. Tilden Regional Park, Contra Costa Co., Calif. Many Triturus in Wildcat stream at lower limits of park. Examples taken show many characters in common with both torosus and granulosus. Breeding activity in full swing. Juveniles and sub- adults and a few adult 44 quite far from stream under logs, banks, etc. 399 and 3o7o7 brought to laboratory. One additional subadult with extremely pigmented eye brought to lab. Also. 19 Mar. Pinehurst, Contra Costa Co., Calif. 1200-1630 spent in area. Temp. at 1410: air 12.4; water 10.8 C. Scattered clouds with intermittent sun and overcast.
