D. Riemer 1949 Journal 26 Feb. Pinehurst, Contra Costa Co., Calif. surface litter. Stream not examined because of muddy condition and rain. Animal marked was walking across duff toward (?) stream on N side of road. Road carefully examined but no specimens seen. Many DOR's. 5 Mar. 1220-1700 spent in area. Temp: air 10.5°; water 8.8, at 1230. Weather: rained intermittently in Berkeley all week. 1.65 in. recorded here. Stream considerably swollen and cloudy. Overcast, with sun breaking through occasionally. Sprinkled lightly several times. Mapping below bridge well under way. Also began Sheet 2 in upper area. Two new animals marked. #09 recaptured at original site. Very few DOR's on road. 12 Mar. 1200-1700 spent in areas. Temp.1545: air 12.4°, water 10.4°. Weather: heavy rains all through past week; today mostly high overcast with very short spells of sun. Stream very much swollen and turbulent.
