W. Reimer 1948 Journal U.S. 399, Ventura Co., Calif. 20 July This road covered on morning of date. Traverses a seemingly lower Sonoran zone though Pseudotringa were frequent at higher spots. Ground cover chiefly of sage and similar desert growth averaging about 3 feet in height. Area rocky and in places sparsely vegetated. Brush rabbits and mice on road very common. May be very good road for night collecting I reptiles. Arrived close to noon at my home in Los Angeles. Continued on to Newport Beach that same afternoon. 26 July Newport Beach, Orange Co., Calif. During stay at beach between this date and one above most of time spent in recreation. Following birds observed at following locations during this period. Upper portion Newport Bay - 1. Black-necked Stilt - common
