Camp Curry, Yosemite Nat'l Park,
Mariposa Co., Calif.
6 July Bob Stebbins and I drove
to Tuolumne Meadows on
Tioga road yesterday afternoon.
Road not difficult. Spent night
with Allen Waldo—Ranger-
Materialist. Started at 0500
for Upper Mt. Lyell Base Camp
about 12 miles. Reached spot
shortly after 0900. Trail easy.
Collected series of Hydromantes
platycephalus on rocky slopes
above meadow in which camp
situated. This thought to be
type locality. Animals occur
under granite rocks with
soil and root mat beneath.
All specimens collected in
small area. Other suitable
spots examined yielded no
animals. See R. Stebbins field
notes for particulars of this
days collecting. Returned same
day to Tuolumne Meadows,
Drove back to Yosemite Valley
next morning. While at Tuolumne
met and received gift of Berfo canorus
