12 May Berkeley Hills, Alameda Co., Calif. Morning
overcast clearing toward noon.
Warm only during afternoon.
Large of which wandered over all
territories during last study period
(5 May) missing. Observations today
only indicate other individuals
confined to rather small areas
within study area. Species noted:
one Coluber constrictor morrisoni in
study area. Turkey Vultures, singly,
and in pair overhead in late morning
and early afternoon (1100 to 1320).
One feral house cat (white & black)
seen twice in area. Purple Finches
and Pine Siskins very common in
corifers adjacent to area. Oregon
Junco nest located in conifer
clump.
15 May Wildcat Canyon, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co.,
Calif. Leader of third group 8/113
class. Search at lower end of Park;
along stream and wooded slopes
revealed: Hyla, Rana aurora &
Triturus in the water; Batrachoseps
scelopodes, Thamnophis on slopes.
Triturus egg masses located
in all stages of development.
Period of observation: 0845 to 1130.
Weather: warm, sunny, clear.
