7 May 0.5 mi. E Denveron, Solano Co., Calif.
About 1/2 hour search showed no Thamnophis.
1 large Pitohuis c. catenifer taken under wood
box. Situation: Short stand of
swamp grasses and sedges
over very damp soil. Water
apparently brackish. Weather: cool,
clear, sunny. Many Cliff and few
Barn Swallows nesting under
low concrete bridge. Several
photos taken. (See Roll #20).
8 May Lwi. NW Batavia, Solano Co., Calif.
Calif. #12 and N.S. 40 to Vacaville,
hence Elmira Batavia and N.S.
40 again. Pond near between
Elmira and Batavia no longer
present. On U.S. 40 at above
locale a swampy stream contained
many Rana catesbiana. 1 Brefa
borealis halo phila taken. Search
revealed no Thamnophis. Sceloporus
here seem confined to small
crcrete bridges etc., though they
seek shelter under object and
among tules on soggy ground.
8 May Pitch Creek 70 ft. Dixon (Solano Co.) Yolo Co., Calif.
U.S. 40 through Dixon to Creek.
Search revealed no Thamnophis.
1510, 1 young Gerrhonotus m. multi-
carinatus and 1 Thamnophis sp.?
taken about rubbish piles.
