Reiner 1948 Journal 19. 10 Apr. Wildcat Canyon, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co., Calif. and blowing up canyon. Mt enough to interfere with birds activity. Route traversed eucalyptus, oak, willow, wet chaparral, tule marsh, open grassy areas. Bird life extremely abundant. Amphibians also out probably due to rains ending last evening. List of animals observed: 1. Triturus torosus 2. Hyla regilla *3. Steller Jay (common though no conifers in area) 4. California Jay 5. Orange-crowned Warbler} common 6. Pileolated Warbler 7. Wren-tit (chaparral) 8. Calif. Quail (chaparral) 9. Oregon Junco (eucalyptus) 10. Ruby-crowned Kinglet (willow) 12. Bush-tit (willow-) 13. Song Sparrow (cattails & weeds) 14.
