Mote made 2 differences in relative build of wings and feet. Brown Towhee, limited to open spaces and feeding on ground has feet of large size and small wings with small primaries. Black Phoebe feeding on wing, and also Hummingbirds which feed on wing, both with large wings and small feet and legs. Both relatively solitary also perhaps an adaptation so that confusion a collision prevented in their rapid erratic flight. Most of birds were noted to be in "edge" habitats. 3 Apr. 113 Class left Stadium parking area, walked up Canyon road to trail just below Botanical Gardens. Followed trail up, across and back down Canyon on N slope, arriving at Panoramic Way. Took ridge trail up to top of Panoramic Way then followed road and stairs back down to Stadium. Began
